Acknowledging Country
Southern Ocean Art Prize acknowledges the Boandik peoples as the traditional custodians of the land, water and air of this area. We respect their spiritual relationship with the land and recognise the deep feelings of attachment our Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait peoples have with this land.
About
Southern Ocean Art Prize (SOAP) is a not-for-profit, volunteer- led organisation that is passionate about creating opportunities to present art and culture to the local Robe community and region.
Mission Statement
SOAP’s mission is to hold an annual month-long art event in November which includes exhibitions, workshops and performances to attract artists and visitors of all ages, from all around Australia.
The aim of this event is to advocate for country arts and to promote the visual arts as a powerful and creative tool for expression and communication.
The event also strives to advance the exposure of arts and culture to the Robe community and surrounding region, highlighting the excellence, innovation and creativity which art brings to a community.
SOAP is a highlight of the annual Robe events calendar and has been running for over fifteen years.
